ABOUT

Come As You Are
We're a church for everyday people, where you can come as you are to connect with God in a way that makes sense. Whether you're exploring the Christian faith or a church regular, there's something for you.

Where is Silverton UMC?
We are located at 203 W. Main Street, near downtown Silverton across from Town Square park and a few blocks from Coolidge McClaine park. If you are walking to worship, enter the building from the Main Street side! If you are driving, our parking lot is located behind our building between Fiske Street and Coolidge Street. Our entry is under the drive-through portico.

What time should I arrive for worship?
We have folks welcoming people to worship starting at 9:30 a.m. Most people generally show up 10 or 15 minutes before the service starts to settle themselves and greet their friends.

When you arrive…
A greeter will be in the church lobby to answer any questions you might have. When you enter the church sanctuary an usher will hand you a bulletin that contains the order of worship.

How Long Are Sunday Services?
Our worship services are about 60-90 minutes in length. You are welcome to stay after the service to connect with others upstairs in our fellowship hall.

Accessibility
Our church building is wheelchair accessible. Elevator access is available to all floors inside the church. Please ask an usher if you’d like a large-print hymnal or hearing assistance device to use during worship.

What do I wear?
There is no dress code for United Methodist churches. Like many places in life, people dress in a variety of ways. Whatever you wear, you will be welcome. Jeans, dress shirts, capri’s, t-shirts, suits, and dresses are all seen on any given Sunday.

What about my kids?
Children are always welcome at Silverton United Methodist Church! We encourage families to sit together, toward the front, so children can be engaged. We recognize these are busy times for families, and rarely do you have the opportunity to do something together! The ushers also have “Kids’ Worship Bags” available filled with quiet activities for small children to play with during the service. There is a time for children during the worship service. We also provide a monthly worship service called “Messy Church” which specifically engages families with multi sensory crafts, Bible story engagement, and activities.

Bible Study/Growing deeper in Faith
We offer a variety of discipleship classes that encourage learning no matter what your age is! At this time we don’t have Sunday School, but we do have some discipleship classes and community groups that help you grow in faith.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

•    What unites us as children of God is greater than the theological differences that separate us.
•    We are called by Christ to be on this journey together.
•    We are called to attend to not just what Jesus died for, but what he lived for.
•    Centuries of misunderstandings and violence can be best undone by listening to each other and serving the world side by side.
•    The best theologies emerge when we take each other’s stories seriously.
•    We haven’t read the Bible correctly if it doesn’t impel us to go out to love and serve our neighbor.
•    Jesus invites personal and cultural transformation into God’s non-violence, inclusion, healing, and wholeness.
